Ms. Bidhi Mandal is a young Entrepreneur and top six finalist of Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero, 2019. Currently she is designing a prototype for her social business called “Aawas”. It aims to build construction materials such as bricks, roof and floor tiles out of plastics and help families with substandard housing conditions to have better homes, whereas the huge amount of plastic waste will also be recycled. Her idea secured second position on 4th Yunus National Social Business Challenge and UNDP Youth Co: Lab 3.0.
Besides that, she has also won the “Infrastructure Idea Hunt, 2019” in Nepal Infrastructure Summit, 2019. She is also actively involved as a member in Young Female Leadership Forum AYON and as a marketing and outreach intern for Code for Nepal Visit Janakpur.
Along with her social business She is also actively working on a research project on menstrual hygiene of homeless women of Kathmandu valley. In collaboration with group ‘Almost Invisible’, she is working to help homeless women for a safe and healthy needs during their vulnerable times.
Her work as a marketing and outreach intern has helped to uplift the local businesses, and tourism industry by promoting its tourism through various digital platforms in Janakpur. Furthermore, Aawas will provide affordable housing solutions for people with affordable price in the nation.
Ms. Bidhi Mandal is one of the top six Finalists of Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero, 2019. Her creative ideas towards helping people with housing solution is one of the most inspiring things which is adored by nationally.
Ms. Bidhi aspires to work for teenagers and helps to develop entrepreneurial mindset. Additionally, she will also continue her work with ‘Aawas” and help to promote her other ideas and scale up in the future. Likewise, she also wants to partner with various like-minded organizations that can help for the better policies in nation.
