She is a certified Menstrual Health Management (MHM) trainer and member of the Rotaract Club of Kathmandu. Through her initiative, Katha Yatra, she champions menstrual health, gender equity, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in rural Nepal. Motivated by personal encounters with stigma, She empowers girls through education and advocacy, fostering dignity and systemic change in underserved communities.

She leads Katha Yatra, a youth-led initiative started in late 2024, focusing on menstrual health awareness and teaching girls to make reusable sanitary pads in Salme, Nuwakot. Supported by Smart WASH Solutions, she conducts workshops and engages local governments to improve school sanitation infrastructure. As a mentor with Canopy Nepal, she supports scholarship students holistically. She also promotes SDG awareness through storytelling programs like Katha Bunau and World’s Largest Lesson, reaching over 100 students.

Impact Created

Through Katha Yatra, she has trained 25 girls to make reusable pads, turning them into peer educators and reducing menstrual stigma in Salme. Her advocacy has spurred local action for better WASH facilities in schools. Through mentorship, she has supported nine scholarship students, enhancing their academic and personal growth. Her storytelling initiatives have inspired over 100 students to engage with sustainable development, fostering empathy and awareness for lasting community change.

Ruchi Ojha has been selected as a “Glocal’s 20under20 of 2025 Batch” as an early change-maker throughout the nation. Glocal’s 20 under 20 is an umbrella title for 20 early change-makers, who are teenagers from diverse fields, stepping out to create an impact in the society.
