Namrata Dahal is a 17-year-old Child Right Activist from Damak. From the age of 15, She has been actively working in the Child Sector. Currently, She is serving as a Vice–President of Damak Nagar Child Network and as General Secretary in the Youth Team of Damak Public Library. During this pandemic, She has been conducting online programs for children to make the city child friendly as well as children friendly.

Her Journey

Namrata joined a child club when she was in grade 9 and she started her journey of activism at a very young age. Even at that young age, she was aware of the problems that could be solved by active engagement. She joined ‘Eco-Friendly Himalayan Bal Club’, as a general member and became Vice-President after years of engagement. After joining the club, she was completely changed, and she felt that she could do something for the society. Gradually, she has developed the habit of learning new things.

She has been leading and solving all the child-related issues actively.  She is currently serving as a Vice–President of Damak Nagar Child Network. Immediately after that, she initiated community level “Araniko Children’s Club” in her locality. Through this club, She has conducted a gift program; where they give a plant on Birthday. She has already encouraged more than 40 children to plant on their birthdays.

Apart from that, She has been writing articles on topics like Menstrual, Gender equality, Child rights, and Rape. She has also been speaking and writing about the rights of people in the LGBTIQ. Namrata wants to become a voice of people and work as an activist to solve the social and children issues. 

Impact Created

She has stopped 3/4 child marriage and complaints have been registered. By conducting different programs, Children has developed a skill in it and awared about their rights. Her written articles has sparked the voice of the LGBTQI community and other social issues. 

Namrata Dahal was selected among the 20 brightest young entrepreneurs, innovators, and game changers below the age of 20 in Nepal, for the year 2020. This annual list is the ultimate honor roll of young game changers reshaping Nepal for the better. The platform seeks to encourage the youths to share their initiation, creativity, and enthusiasm which will then motivate them and more of the other youths in the nation to develop an entrepreneurial thinking.
