Nischal is a climate justice advocate from Kapilvastu, Nepal, shaped by firsthand experience with extreme heat and migration. Now living in Lalitpur, he focuses on environmental protection and uplifting marginalized voices. He finds inspiration in community connections, poetry, Himalayan trekking, and believes caring for the Earth is a deep act of compassion.

He has over three years of experience in climate action and environmental leadership. As a Solid Waste Management Consultant at ENPHO, he coordinated USAID Clean Air Project activities, engaged communities in sustainable waste practices, conducted data analysis, and ensured stakeholder communication. He serves as Communication Coordinator at Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA), managing volunteer communications, organizing capacity-building events, and monitoring progress. He facilitated environmental forums as Green Discussion Focal Person at NYCA. He volunteered for the EbA II Project national event, earning formal recognition for professionalism.
He leads local climate initiatives promoting sustainable farming and youth leadership. He conducts workshops empowering women farmers with skills and community participation. Through awareness campaigns, he raises climate change and justice understanding, motivating youth and marginalized groups as environmental advocates. He contributed to Nepal’s NDC revision, supporting the adoption of a more inclusive, gender-sensitive framework (NDC 3.0), advancing equitable and sustainable climate policies. His work strengthens community resilience and fosters leadership for lasting environmental impact in Nepal.
Nischal has been formally recognized by Nepal’s Ministry of Forests & Environment and BaYu Sambad for his climate work. He completed Climate Change TOT with Indigenous Nationalities Women Youth Network and participated in the 4th Asia-Pacific Youth Symposium and Youth Engagement Workshop on ECD & Climate Action. He also participated in COP29 and Sagarmatha Sambad.

Impact Created

He has significantly impacted society by empowering women in farming communities through capacity-building workshops that improve livelihoods and promote sustainable practices. His awareness campaigns and advocacy have educated youth and marginalized groups about climate change and climate justice, inspiring many to become active community advocates. At the policy level, he contributed to revising Nepal’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), helping adopt a more inclusive framework focused on social inclusion and gender equality. Through these efforts, he has fostered a culture of leadership and participation among women and youth, strengthening community resilience and advancing Nepal’s path toward a fair and sustainable future.

Nischal Dhungana has been selected as a “Glocal’s 20under20 of 2025 Batch” as an early change-maker throughout the nation. Glocal’s 20 under 20 is an umbrella title for 20 early change-makers, who are teenagers from diverse fields, stepping out to create an impact in the society.
