Mr. Hangsam Nembang, a 17-year-old entrepreneur from Phidim Panchthar, exemplifies resilience and determination. Overcoming early financial struggles and bullying, he has emerged as a successful entrepreneur and community leader. Now a full scholarship student at KMC, Hangsam leads several initiatives that reflect his commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and community engagement, proving that challenges can be transformed into opportunities for growth and service.

 His Work

As the founder and president of the Junior Entrepreneurship Circle (JEC), he is dedicated to nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit among young people. He is currently developing a mentorship program that connects students with industry leaders for career guidance. In September 2024, he will be organizing a flagship event for JEC, which will bring together over 500 students for a day of guest speakers, competitions, and networking opportunities. This event aims to inspire and equip the next generation of entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. In addition to his work with JEC, He is an executive board member of Gyan Samaj, where he is creating a format for free tuition classes aimed at economically disadvantaged students. These classes will be taught by qualified volunteers, ensuring that students who might not otherwise have access to quality education can receive the support they need to excel. He is also a key figure at TEDxBaneshwor, where he leads the organizing committee. After the success of the first TEDx event, Hangsam is planning a larger and more impactful second edition, with the goal of enhancing community engagement and spreading innovative ideas.

 His entrepreneurial journey began in class 10, when he ventured into the construction business as a sub-contractor. Successfully managing a pipeline distribution project, he gained valuable entrepreneurial skills and experience, which he continues to apply in his various initiatives.

 Impact

Hangsam Nembang’s work has had a profound impact on his community and beyond. Through the Junior Entrepreneurship Circle, he has fostered entrepreneurship and personal growth, impacting over 1,000 individuals in just nine months. JEC’s events on AI, leadership, and mentorship have provided young people with the tools and inspiration they need to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. At Gyan Samaj, Hangsam has played a pivotal role in establishing a library in Panchthar, donating over 300 books to benefit rural students. This initiative reflects his commitment to improving educational opportunities for all, regardless of their financial background. Leading TEDxBaneshwor, he organized a successful first edition and is planning a larger second event to enhance community engagement.

His involvement with the KMSS Corporate Reach Out team has exposed over 1,000 students to the corporate world, helping them to understand the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in their careers. Additionally, his construction projects have improved local infrastructure and living conditions, reflecting his commitment to societal betterment.
