Mr. Nischal Bhattarai, Finalist, Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2024, is a young social activist with a deep passion for making a meaningful impact on the lives of teenagers, women, and children. His primary focus is on helping teenagers navigate the challenges they face in today’s fast-paced world. He works to empower them by boosting their confidence, supporting their personality development, and addressing critical issues like mental health. Through various workshops, training programs, and boot camps, he provides valuable resources and guidance on topics such as public speaking, leadership skills, cybercrime awareness, menstrual health education, and stress management. His goal is to ensure that every teenager has the tools and confidence to overcome obstacles and build a successful, healthy future.
His Work,
Alongside his work with teenagers, he is a dedicated Sanskrit student and advocate for preserving and promoting cultural heritage. One of the key issues he focuses on is challenging harmful cultural taboos, particularly those surrounding menstruation. In Nepalese society, the practice of untouchability during menstruation has been passed down through generations, and he is determined to put an end to this discriminatory tradition. He firmly believes that every woman deserves respect and the right to live in a peaceful, dignified environment, free from outdated cultural practices. Through various educational programs centered around Sanskrit, he not only aims to teach the language but also instill moral values and cultural knowledge in the younger generation, helping them connect with their roots while progressing in modern society.
Additionally, he is deeply engaged in advocating for children’s rights. He actively participates in children’s clubs within his local ward and municipality, and collaborates with several NGOs that focus on protecting children’s welfare. He works tirelessly to end practices like child labor and child marriage, ensuring that vulnerable children are allowed to live free from exploitation and harm. He believes that children have the right to a safe environment where their voices are heard and their rights are respected.
Through his various initiatives and advocacy, he strives to create a more inclusive society where every teenager can thrive, every woman is respected, and every child’s rights are protected. His work is driven by the belief that positive change begins with individuals who are willing to stand up for what’s right and work together to build a better future for all.
