Aayushman Puri is an 18-year-old Social Activist from Butwal, Rupandehi. He is dedicated to empowering Nepal’s youth with the knowledge about sexual and reproductive health. He is inspired by his family’s commitment to helping others, and with this motivation he started social work in 8th grade and now, as a public health student, he aims to break taboos and foster positive change in the community.

His Work

Currently, he is working with YUWA to promote comprehensive sexuality education, advocating for better health education, and reaching underserved communities. He has been working in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for four months, but his journey in social work began in 8th grade. Inspired by a family tradition of service, he was surrounded by examples of positive community impact, shaping his aspirations. Throughout school, he took on leadership roles in clubs and the Red Cross, organizing fundraisers, clean-up drives, and community events. These experiences fueled his passion for helping others and showed him the power of collective action. Joining YUWA and the Youth Activist Leadership Council (YALC) was a natural fit, allowing him to advocate for youth issues, promote SRHR, and contribute to positive change in his community.

Impact

Through his involvement with YUWA, particularly as a member of the Youth Activist Leadership Council, he has positively impacted society by focusing on comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). He empowers young people with crucial knowledge about their health and rights. By breaking down barriers and starting important conversations on taboo topics, he helps create an open, informed environment for teenagers. He designs and implements programs for marginalized communities, raises awareness, and reduces stigma. He advocates for policy changes and comprehensive health education in Nepal, empowering a generation to make informed decisions.
