Mr. Kaushal Niraula, a 19-year-old environmental activist from Morang, is driven by a deep passion for nature conservation. Despite facing challenges along the way, he is committed to transforming nature destroyers into nature lovers, believing that caring for the environment enriches our lives. In addition to his advocacy work, Kaushal enjoys reading, watching movies, and nurturing the environment.

 His Work

Kaushal has been advocating for environmental issues since Class 10, accumulating nearly four years of experience. His advocacy encompasses a wide range of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including climate justice, leadership, youth empowerment, sustainable development, and the circular economy. Recently, he completed the Youth for Climate Action Project, funded by the British Council Nepal, with his team, Climate Care Network, where he serves as Secretary. He also serves as the Local Ambassador for Nepal for Moonshot Pirates, a movement empowering youth aged 15 to 20. Previously, he was the Advocacy and Policy Coordinator for the NYCA Biratnagar Chapter and volunteered for the UN’s “My Vote Matters” campaign.

 Impact

Kaushal’s impact, though not widely recognized yet, is significant. His story was featured in the publication “5000 AND GROWING Stories of Children in Asia Taking Climate Action” by TDH-Germany and CRC Asia, highlighting his efforts to inspire others. A recent highlight was founding Climate Care Network with like-minded individuals, and participating in a “Street Dogs Feeding Campaign” with Oxsa Nepal, where over 100 street dogs were fed in one day. He has also conducted workshops for teen empowerment, which have led participants to organize their own events focused on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The ripple effect of his workshops is evident in the growing momentum among young people in his community, who are increasingly raising their voices for environmental and social causes. He looks forward to achieving even more significant milestones with the support of a dedicated community.
