Atal Dev founded a brand-new working group inside YOUNGO — the official youth voice at the United Nations’ climate negotiations — dedicated entirely to mountain regions like Nepal’s, which face outsized climate risk despite contributing almost nothing to the problem. His push has helped mountains earn a dedicated place, for the first time, in one of the world’s largest youth climate statements ahead of the next UN climate summit.
