Glocal Teen Hero is the platform for teenagers to showcase their initiation, creativity and their works on the global platform. This is a great platform to explore your creativity and expand your horizons. It is an initiation of Glocal Pvt. Ltd (a business enterprise working in the field of skill, education and entrepreneurship) to celebrate the teenagers who are doing beyond academics and are active to create a positive effect in their society. The major purpose of this intervention is to inspire and empower teenagers to venture outside of their comfort zones, be innovative, and develop entrepreneurial thinking.
Glocal Teen Hero Sri Lanka 2020
With the aim to initiate Glocal Teen Hero in all over South Asia, Glocal has brought this opportunity to Sri Lankan teenagers for their encouragement and development. Glocal Teen Hero Sri Lanka aims to empower teenagers and give them an opportunity to lead their endeavors, motivate them to dream big, and always follow their hearts and passion.This is a lifetime opportunity for the Sri Lankan teenagers who believe in the work they do and are ready to put their vision and mission to the world.
Glocal Teen Hero Sri Lanka is the second country to host the Glocal Teen Hero Franchise after India. In order to encourage teenagers across South Asia and recognize their initiation, Glocal Teen Hero has been leading the search for fantastic teenagers. GTH Sri Lanka is now in its 2nd edition and has been designed to bring out innovative teenagers from different corners of the nation.
Ms. Menuri Sachintha Kodikara was the First ever Glocal Teen Hero – Sri Lanka, 2020. Likewise, Mr. Parameswaran Praveenan, Virtual Teacher; Ms. Fazah Firnas, Innovator; Mr. Nelitha Priyawansha, Inventor; Mr. Manith Dulnim, Innovator; and Mr. Shazaan Careem, Robot Maker became finalists of Glocal Teen Hero Sri Lanka in 2020.
Last year, we were able to reach 25 Districts and 89,000+ teenagers across the nation.

This year we received 125 applications throughout the nation ranging from diverse fields from Education, Social Activism, Social Entrepreneur, Entrepreneur, Innovation, Health, Technology and others. We were able to reach 28 Districts and 107,900 teenagers across the nation.

Rajapaksha Pathiranalage Tharindu Chanuka Samarakkody: A Passionate Education Activist!
Rajapaksha Pathiranalage Tharindu Chanuka Samarakkody is an 18 years old Passionate Education Activist from Kahanthota Road, Malabe, Sri Lanka.
Rajapaksha is a director of Ewit.lk, a public online Learning Management System. He along with his colleagues initiated Ewit.lk with the aim to bestow the essence of education for the upcoming generations and the vision of creating a high-performance learning culture. His works are majorly focused on facilitating an efficient teaching and learning system through a friendly user defined interface.
He is taking every step possible in order to uplift the quality of learning and teaching even through these difficult times by organizing free seminars, promoting teachers free-of-charge and so on. He and his Ewit.lk team also received the CIMA CATALYST’21 competition, which was powered by launchpad.
Besides that, he has completed the ‘Young Entrepreneurs 101’ training series by SANDBOX Consultancy Services. He aspires to be someone who could bring a change and facilitate the citizens with advanced learning technology and quality education.
Ranuja Chandira Pahalawela: A Dynamic Social Activist!
Ranuja Chandira Pahalawela is an 18 years old dynamic social activist from Galkanda Lane, Aniwatta Kandy, Sri Lanka.
Ranuja is the founder of the volunteer youth community ‘HETA DAWASA’ and a volunteer member of many youth organizations including UN Volunteers, Road to Rights, Action to Impact, SDG promotion-oriented youth organizations. He is also a child rights and child protection researcher. Ranuja is currently working on a project called “HETA DAWASA” – Better Tomorrow, which aims to promote SDGs in society, with a particular focus on climate action and the goal of no poverty. It focuses on long-term development goals such as excellent education, gender equality, and partnerships for goals that have a significant impact on making active citizens for the SDGs.
Another project he is involved in is ‘Action to Impact’ movement which is globally recognized. There are many projects which he have successfully done and few are still in a process. One of his projects is “RAKAWARANA YATHRA”- Helping Hands that focuses on assisting youngsters in need, particularly in rural areas of the country. Another project is “GREEN LANKA,” in which he organizes plantation projects with the help of youths from all throughout Sri Lanka. Furthermore, eco-friendly concepts are promoted as a result of this. The goal is to get people to actively participate in climate change and environmental conservation.
Similarly, his other projects are;
- “HEARTBEAT”, a cleaning project organized with youth of charity organizations in the district;
- “ALERT”, digital awareness campaign organized with interact clubs of above mentioned districts about child rights and child protection including webinars and live interviews;
- “SOCIAL COMMUNICATOR”, a child protection virtual awareness campaign about child protection and child rights on social media platforms;
- “SIP SAVIYA”, a donation project to help children in need specially for rural areas in Sri Lanka;
- “ABHIMANI”, an awareness and motivation program for girls.
Aside from that, he is working on a study project about sexual education in Sri Lanka, which will bea great advantage for future citizens of the country. He aims to be a great social activist in the future, promoting volunteerism in Sri Lanka and continuing to work on human rights preservation.
Rheema Khalleel: An Aspiring Entrepreneur & Social Activist!
Rheema Khalleel is an 18 years old achiever and philanthropist from Tharalanda road, Matale, Sri Lanka.
Rheema is the founder and CEO of SAARC Model United Nations. She is involved in generating social protection, sustainable development by holding MUN conferences, workshops and awareness programs on social media platforms. She works on giving opportunities to youths and teens to showcase their abilities and skills on the globe by interacting with people from all around the world.
Rheema also organizes conferences and brings positive resolutions to key concerns under the auspices of several UN entities, which are then submitted to UNHCR. She aspires to be a successful woman in her job and education, one who will serve society and make a difference.
Sachintha Chamaranga Abeyrathne: A Perceptive Entrepreneur!
Sachintha Chamaranga Abeyrathne is an 18 years old student of Advanced Level Mathematics from Gangabada Road, Piliyandala, Sri Lanka.
Sachintha is the founder of E-Learning Portal LK, a non-profit organization which started during the period of lockdown with the goal of assisting kids in rural areas who are impoverished in receiving free and high-quality education. He is also volunteering at The First Step (Social Media Evangelist, Content Creator), HOPE – for a better world (Web Developer, Graphic Designer).
With the help of professionals, he was able to facilitate quality, equal, and free education by holding online seminars, quizzes, and webinars that not only prepared students for their examinations but also served as a guide for students on how to choose their career routes and identify their passion. The volunteer project that he started was able to facilitate 1500+ students island-wide during the first phase of the free online seminar series. He is continuing the special webinar series in the year 2021 with the theme based on “Skill Based Education Development”. The goal is to provide Sri Lankan students a better understanding of the numerous employment options available in the 4.0 industry revolution. He aspires to be a cyber-security specialist and a successful entrepreneur in the future and change society for the betterment.
Shihan Ambuldeniya: A Young Visionary Innovator!
Shihan Ambuldeniya is an 15 years old talented young innovator from Prarthana Mawatha, Watapuluwa, Kandy, Sri Lanka.
Considering the recent pandemic situation, he came up with the notion of inventing sanitizer stations. He recently invented Sanitizer Station 1.0 and Sanitizer Station MINI. He is currently working on his latest invention Sanitizer Station 2.0 and Treker 1.0.
His invention, Sanitizer Station 2.0 is created with the primary goal of assisting individuals in performing various tasks without requiring physical contact. A person just needs to tap the card or enter the provided number then it will automatically detect the body temperature and dispense and a surgical mask. The information is sent to a web server, from which it can be obtained using any device that is connected to the server.
His inventions help to avoid the virus by physical contact and maintain healthy disinfections in a particular place. He wants to pursue his career in software and mobile application development in the near future.
