Mr. Aayushman Puri, 20under20, Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2024, is a dynamic, target-driven, and zealous youngster currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Public Health. His outgoing personality and strong interpersonal skills makes him an excellent fit for leadership roles, public health advocacy, and creative initiatives. Alongside his academic endeavors, he enjoys singing, dancing, reading, and networking, all of which align seamlessly with his commitment to serving the community and empowering youth. Inspired by a family tradition of service, he was surrounded by examples of positive community impact, shaping his aspirations.
His Work,
Aayushman has been a vocal advocate for Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) as a member of the Youth Activist Leadership Council (YALC) of YUWA. He has facilitated peer-to-peer CSE sessions for over 40 students and has significantly contributed to impactful events such as the SRHR Mela, Cycle Rally for Breast Cancer Awareness, and Khulla Aakash which foster open discussions on taboo topics and equip young individuals to make informed decisions. He also actively advocates for policy reforms and promotes comprehensive health education to empower Nepal’s youth.
As a Campaign Ambassador for HIV/AIDS with We For Change, he has focused on raising awareness about HIV prevention and combating stigma through community engagement and running online campaigns. In his role as a Young TB Advocate Volunteer for Nymat Nepal in collaboration with WHO Nepal, he spearheaded school health programs and local advocacy campaigns to educate students and communities on tuberculosis prevention and control.
Currently, Aayushman works as a General Member of Nepal Health Corps, participating in campaigns addressing non-communicable diseases (NCDs). He also serves as the Deputy Team Coordinator of Eco-Network Nepal at MMIHS and is a General Member of the Mainadevi Foundation, contributing to environmental health initiatives and advocating for environmental justice. He designs and implements programs for marginalized communities, raises awareness, and reduces stigma. He advocates for policy changes and comprehensive health education in Nepal, empowering a generation to make informed decisions.
