Ms. Neha Gurung is a 19-year-old dynamic Social Activist from Kathmandu.
Since 2017, She has been actively working in the Child Sector. She has got an opportunity to join the Kathmandu District Child Club Network. After joining the club; She has learn a lot about children rights, and able to explore the opportunities for children as well. Now, She is an advisor at Kathmandu District Child Club Network.
Apart from this; She was given a platform which her voice could be heard, and reached a large number of people. She was able to inspire other children in her community, which keeps her inspired to continue her activism and empower other children and youth to speak up. Today, She is working as a program presenter of Radio Program #Coolkids.com, an awareness program against online child sexual abuse which was produced by Voice of Children and broadcasted from 10 different radio stations around the country.
Currently, Neha is serving as a Secretary at Rotaract Club of Reliance College, Through this club, she has been conducting various fellowship programs, skill development, and competitions for children. She is working on a Child-Friendly School Concept through Rotaract Child Club and has also developed two libraries in Sunsari and Janakpur that are relevant to Quality Education. Her enthusiasm and dedication towards society has made her succeeded in making Kathmandu Metropolitan Ward 4 schools child-friendly, and she is presently working on Budhanilkantha Municipality Wards 10 and 7.
Neha is working as a Girl Co-Leader to prepare “Girl’s led Report on UNCEDAW”; as a program presenter for online safety. Similarly, She is an active member of Global Young Influencer Group of PLAN INTERNATIONAL. Additionally, She is also a member of Youth Volunteers in Humanitarian of Nepal Mahila Ekta Samaj. She has been striving to raise COVID awareness, implement COVID prevention measures, and provide relief items and medical kits to members of the community. Apart from that, she has an interest in Fashion.
Through her work; She has been able to educate teenagers about Child Rights, Dignified Mensuration, Orientation, and Capacity Building sessions. Through her contribution, she was able to make Kathmandu Metropolitan schools as a “Child-Friendly school”.
In future, she sees herself as a graduate student pursuing her masters in Business or entrepreneurship, who has expertise herself in the field of business, child rights, women rights and a contributor who has contributed toward social welfare and country development.
Neha Gurung has been selected as a “Glocal’s 20under20 of 2021 Batch” as an early change-maker throughout the nation. Glocal’s 20 under 20 is an umbrella title for 20 early change-makers, who are teenagers from diverse fields, stepping out to create an impact in the society.
