Everyone you admire was once a beginner and a teenager. Teens, the most active and fresh-minded individuals in our population pyramid, are mostly entitled to the pillars and future of the society, which they are but for being the pillar that doesn’t shred is the future we focus on or the present?
A teenager, or teen, is someone who is between 13 and 19 years old. The ages vary depending on each country. Most of us probably don’t know that they are called teenagers because their age number ends with “teen.”
According to research, the most googled career-related questions by teenagers are: How can I make money? How can I be Steve Jobs? Is traditional education worth it? and so on.
Teenagers and Career Insecurities
Teenagers mostly are too insecure to talk about their dreams and what they aspire to be because they think it’s too big for people to believe in it, and this is what pulls them away from what they always wanted.
For many teenagers, what they are doing right now or what they want to do is either because they didn’t know what to do or were told that this is the right thing to do or for a good-looking transcript. Maybe many of us were too embarrassed or scared to say that we wanted to be a rapper; hence, we wanted to become a lawyer?
Start a conversation with a teenager or with yourself if you are a teen and ask Where do you want to be in the next 15 years and ask yourself a second question: what are you contributing at present to be who you aspire to be in the next 15 years?
Opportunities and Teenage
Have you ever seen a potter making a pot out of clay? Exactly, this is how the age between 13-19 looks, delicate, and can be shaped the way we desire it to be like.
Opportunities are definitely not the optimum solution to teenage insecurities, but it is definitely a way out. When we take opportunities, we get to have conversations with people and learn new things that make us self-aware about what we like and don’t. Having clarity of thoughts is what drives you to a better path, and opportunities let you have that clarity of yourself and what you aspire to.
