Mr. Hangsam Nembang, 20under20, Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2024, and an aspiring entrepreneur from Phidim, Panchthar, currently resides in Kathmandu, where he is pursuing +2 at KMC, Bagbazar, on a full-ride scholarship from Kathmandu Metropolitan City. His entrepreneurial journey began early, following his SEE exams, when he led a drinking water pipeline distribution project as the sub-contractor and site project lead.
His Work,
He managed a team of 10 laborers and successfully facilitated drinking water access in his community, marking his first leadership experience. After moving to Kathmandu for further studies, Hangsam joined the Leo Club of Entrepreneurs Nepal as a general member during his post-SEE vacation. He attended conferences and volunteered at significant events, including Krishna Janmashtami at ISKCON Kathmandu and Teej at Pashupatinath Temple. These experiences honed his community service skills and deepened his understanding of organizational work. His active involvement led to his appointment as an executive member of the KMSS Corporate Reachout Team at KMC, Bagbazar, in August 2023. In this role, Hangsam and his team organized over 12 events, such as seminars, workshops, and field visits with industry professionals, offering more than 1,000 students exposure to the professional world. Recognizing the need for real-world education in high school, He founded the Junior Entrepreneurship Circle (JEC) in November 2023. This not-for-profit platform fosters entrepreneurship and personal growth among high school students. He has been serving as the founder/president of JEC and JEC, now with over 60 members from 10+ colleges, has organized events on AI, leadership, time management, and career guidance reaching over 1500 individuals, collaborating with Leo District Council 325P and TEDxBaneshwor, With the affiliation of JEC to GYES in August 2024, He has been appointed as the Regional Director of GYES.
Hangsam’s commitment to community development continued with his appointment as the district representative for Janajati Kalyan Ashram in February 2024, He participated in a 3-day national planning meeting alongside delegates from Nepal and India. By April, he became an executive board member of Gyan Samaj, an organization dedicated to improving education in rural Nepal. His team built a library at a school in Panchthar, donating over 300 books to support local education. In May 2024, Hangsam was appointed Professional Service Chairperson at the Leo Club of Entrepreneurs Nepal. Shortly after, he became Chief Secretary of the organizing committee for TEDxBaneshwor’s first edition, held successfully on July 20, 2024. Following this achievement, he was promoted to Event Head for TEDxBaneshwor’s second edition, leading a team of 35 to organize Nepal’s largest TEDx event, scheduled for December 21, 2024. Simultaneously, Hangsam is preparing for the JEC Youth Fest, a flagship event of the Junior Entrepreneurship Circle (JEC) focused on the theme “Navigating Nepal: Opportunities and Challenges for the Next Generation.” Scheduled for November 16, 2024, this event is expected to draw over 400 participants. In August 2024, Hangsam was promoted to President of the KMSS Corporate Reachout Team, where he continues to lead initiatives that provide students with vital exposure to the corporate world.

Being honored as Glocal’s 20under20 motivates him to pursue even more impactful work in society, and connecting with fellow batchmates and witnessing their impactful work that has been truly inspiring.
