Mr. Amrit Rijal is a 19-year-old Child Right Activist from Itahari. He describes himself as a child rights activist and youth empowerer working to create a ripple change. 

When he was 13, he started working for social change. Amrit began his activism path at a very young age. He was aware of the difficulties that may be rectified by active engagement even at that young age. He is an initiator of Hamro Awaj Baal Sanjal. He has formed a community child club; where he conducted certain programs related to environmental cleanliness, talent blossoming and celebrating festivals with the children of the community. He believes in the power of diversity and aspires to create a safe and child-friendly Nepal.

Slowly but steadily, he started working for social change and working till the date. Amrit has been a notable leader in the field of child rights for over five years. He’s also a forward-thinking radio broadcaster who wants to help his community by bringing attention to many concerns concerning children’s rights. He has worked as a radio host for radio pariwartan 89.4MHz, where he aired the children related program “Nirakar.” Many local media outlets have praised his work. In the national publication ‘The Himalayan Times,’ he has already been profiled in the millennial teen section.

Apart from this; Amrit is the founder of the campaign “Lakshyadeep”, which focuses on enhancing co-curricular activities among children and youths.  Furthermore, He is known for his work as the facilitator for Child Friendly Local Governance (CFLG).

Amrit is the chairman and convenor at Nepal Youth Network For Sustainable Development District Committee Sunsari. As Country Director of the World Youth Organization, Ambassador of the Chaeli Foundation in the United States, and peer mentor for the UN Secretariat Representative on Violence Against Children’s #CovidUnder19 project, he has had the opportunity to represent Nepal on a number of significant venues.

Similarly, all of his other activities and involvements have always been aimed at fostering a society in which everyone has equal rights and responsibilities. Amrit is best recognized for his work as a facilitator for child-friendly local governance, but he has also made contributions to ending child violence, youth leadership, and advocating for the effects of climate change on children.

In the future; He sees himself contributing towards society. He is pursuing a medical degree and wishes to assist in Nepal’s remote districts. Joining medical degree; He would like to serve in remote areas of Nepal. He also intends to cooperate in the health sector with several international non-governmental organizations to promote child survival and protection. He would also like to work part-time as a teacher and contribute to high-quality education. He also intends to continue to advocate for better health and well-being, as well as reduced inequality and child rights.

Amrit Rijal has been selected as a “Glocal’s 20under20 of 2021 Batch” as an early change-maker throughout the nation. Glocal’s 20 under 20 is an umbrella title for 20 early change-makers, who are teenagers from diverse fields, stepping out to create an impact in the society.
