Amit Timalsina, 17, is a young and aspiring Technopreneur from Butwal. He is the President and Pioneer of the Young Scientists Community (YSC), which is a part of RECAST; an initiative by high schoolers for high schoolers. He has learned several skills in the fields of Computer Science like Website Development, JavaScript, C++ with OOP, Graphics designing, Video editing, Blockchain Basics, Basic Cybersecurity, AWS Services, and Artificial Intelligence [DL, RL, GAN’s, Tensorflow-2] and many more. He has already completed about 15 courses and few specializations from Coursera from various Universities. He is a TensorFlow certified developer from Coursera.
Currently, He is working on Automated Landslide Susceptibility Mapping Model; where he is trying to detect the landslide susceptible places all over Nepal starting from Langtang using Satellite-based raster images. Apart from that, he is also the Ambassador for Butwal for deeplearning.ai company and conducts webinars on AI and Data Science. His team was selected as a global nominee for NASA Space Apps Challenge from around 100 teams and participated in the Breakthrough challenge. For the last two years, He has been working as the Secretary for a local Children club where he has built the first public library and public sports centre for the children in his locality.
His Journey
Amit is a very passionate teenager and has an interest in the field of Science and technology and also he has a good knowledge of Artificial Intelligence. Meanwhile, he hopes to carry himself to utilize the power of Artificial Intelligence.
According to him, every year technology is improving, but no one is working for the prevention of landslides by using technology properly. Thus he wants to make a Machine Learning (ML) model that could at least classify landslide susceptible places of Nepal.
He believes “Personal Growth is the World Growth” which keeps him motivated for learning and gaining skills. Although, he is Artificial Intelligence lead at Young Scientists Community, where he gives quality content through the website and online classes for other high schoolers. This is the reason which motivates him to grow knowledge and experience.

His recent webinar on ‘Breaking into AI and Data Science’ has helped Nepali students to start learning AI and Data Science. By setting a public library & Public Sports Center in his community; he has inspired the people to be outstanding personalities who will create great social impact.
Amit Timalsina was selected among the 20 brightest young entrepreneurs, innovators and game changers below the age of 20 in Nepal, for the year 2020. This annual list is the ultimate honour roll of young game changers reshaping Nepal for the better. The platform seeks to encourage the youth to share their initiation, creativity, and enthusiasm which will then motivate them and more of the other youths in the nation to develop entrepreneurial thinking.
