Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2026

Atal Dev Dhakal is a 19-year-old Climate Justice Advocate from Nepal passionate about youth leadership, climate education, and policy advocacy. Since beginning his climate journey in 2020, he has grown from local initiatives to representing Nepal and Global South youth on international platforms, focusing on mountain communities, climate finance, and youth participation in decision-making.

As an active member of YOUNGO , the official youth constituency of the UNFCCC, Atal founded and leads the Mountains and Glaciers Working Group and co-leads the Global Youth Statement. His advocacy and educational initiatives have reached more than 2,000 children and young people, particularly from marginalised and rural communities.

As the inaugural Glocal Teen Hero South Asia 2026 Winner, Atal represents a new generation of young changemakers turning local action into global impact. He aspires to advance inclusive climate policies, amplify vulnerable communities, and contribute to a more climate-just future for Nepal, South Asia, and the world.
